Homemade Air Freshener

Reenergize Your Home With Homemade Air Freshener

Since the weather is a little too cold to open windows this time of year, here’s a recipe for a
homemade air freshener that will make your home smell fresh and fragrant. It’s a natural
alternative to commercial products. Just mix the following ingredients up in a spray bottle and set it to mist.
3/4 C distilled water
1/4 C vodka
5 drops each of a few of your favorite essential oils
When it comes to essential oils, you can also make your own fragrance. Here are some simple recipes for creating an essential oil air freshener that you can use during each season or to provide additional health benefits. Of course, you can just go with whatever scent you feel like having at any time of the year.
SPRING: 5 drops each of lemon, lavender and cilantro oils
SUMMER: 5 drops each of wild orange, grapefruit, lime and lemon
FALL: 5 drops each of cinnamon, ginger, orange and 1 drop clove
WINTER: 5 drops each of peppermint, wintergreen and lavender
HOLIDAY: 5 drops each of peppermint, orange, cinnamon and 2 drops rosemary
ALLERGY RELIEF: 8 drops each of peppermint, lavender and lemon
SLEEP RELIEF: 8 drops each of lavender, roman chamomile and wild orange
FOCUS: 8 drops peppermint, 8 drops cinnamon and 2 drops eucalyptus
You can also add these formulas into your diffuser if you have one. The “sleep relief” formula of
essential oils listed above works wonders for relaxing the body and mind for sleep. But we
recommend experimenting and seeing what works best for you now that you know how to make
your own essential oil air freshener!
